The Civil Nuclear Police Authority consists of eight members and is independent of the Civil Nuclear Constabulary. All members are appointed by the Secretary of State for the Department of Energy and Climate Change.
The nature of the Constabulary's business means that, while we want to give you as much information as possible, there are some things we cannot tell you. This can be frustrating - for both of us. Providing public reassurance is part of our role and one way of reassuring people about policing is to give them detailed information about the policing activity in their area. Policing is also about trust and where we are unable to provide specific information (for instance because of its implications for national security). We hope you will trust that we're keeping a close eye on the Constabulary and its activities on your behalf.
