Civil Nuclear Police Authority Policing Plans
Welcome to this section of our website containing the Police Authority's plans for policing arrangements on civil nuclear sites.
Our plans are the essential documents which set out the direction that we are pursuing to progress our mission and thereby seek to achieve our vision to continue to provide a world class service for the protection of nuclear materials and facilities.
We produce two types of policing plan each consistent with the other but concentrating on different timescales and strategic focus:
The Policing Strategy is a three year plan which establishes key strategic priorities against which improvements in performance will be planned. It is prepared after consultation with stakeholders, and analyses how we might respond to changes in the political, economic, social, technological, legal and environmental background to our work.
The Annual Policing Plan translates the key strategic priorities into objectives that we are intending to achieve over the twelve months, the targets that we are adopting to measure our success in meeting the priorities, and the human and financial resources that we intend to apply over the period.
The plans are designed to be read by browsing through the internet. We have tried to keep them as concise as possible to make this easier. In our plans we have used abbreviations and phrases common to our staff but which may not be familiar to all visitors to this website. We have therefore included a glossary of terms as a link on each page.
We do recognise that sometimes readers may wish to have a printed copy and therefore we have included a printable version, though this does not include the referenced documents which are linked from the internet version. Civil Nuclear Police Authority Mission
The CNPA's mission is for the Constabulary to deliver an effective and efficient police service complying with National Security Requirements for the protection of nuclear materials on designated UK nuclear licensed sites and in transit, and to provide a secure and safe environment in which the nuclear industry can carry out its business.
